“In strengthening your relationship with the heart center and in supporting its vitality, it is important to recognize that vitality and attention are intimately connected.”

“When your attention is open and global, the sense of yourself as an individual directing attention opens and softens. The one paying attention gives way to a field of awareness, awareness in this case being that which remains in the absence of a me-sense, awareness as a center-less attention or universal awareness.”

“The sense of Spirit doesn’t know itself as form until attention in the heart draws it there. This is the opportunity: to have Spirit known in the heart.”

“The heart center is the home of awareness as intimacy, connection, embracing, acceptance, allowance, and openness.”

“When awareness is in union with our humanity, the gaps lessen. We can simultaneously be open and receive. The balance is to listen while speaking, and speak while listening, whether one is communicating verbally or not. The sense of distance then collapses.”

“Devotion can be a way of surrender, which is quite different from driving devotional practices.”

“As our energy frees from the vortex of separation, it can find its home in our body. This sense can vitalize into an expression of presence and have the qualities of lightness, warmth, sparkle, and richness. It strengthens the sense of union with the moment. There is a deep knowing of things as they actually are.”

“Sometimes when people have seen their nature as awareness, they can be opposed to efforting. This stance may be fine when things are flowing well, but sometimes intentional effort is required.”

“The notion of devotion is that it’s a way to orient ourselves toward wholeness or union. The sense of separate self seems to fall away so that we can be with exactly what is, in a kind of joining.”
