RETREAT SCHOLARSHIPS

Welcome! Open Gate Sangha has a limited number of full scholarships available for Mukti’s 5-Night Silent Retreat at Garrison Institute, taking place October 20–25, 2024.

Applications must be submitted by June 10, 2024. Late applications will not be accepted.

BEFORE YOU APPLY

It is important that you carefully read all the details outlined below before you respond to the application questions. If you miss any of the steps, your application could be voided.

Please start by reviewing the information on the “Information,” “Accommodations,” and “Getting There” tabs of the Retreat Detail page, to determine if you will be able to participate in this retreat from start to finish: https://mukti.opengatesangha.org/programs/in-person/retreats-detail/1575.

Also, you will need to know the login information (email address and password) for your Open Gate Sangha member account. If you do not have a member account, please create a new account here before starting the application: http://www.opengatesangha.org/sign-up.

ABOUT OUR SCHOLARSHIPS

We celebrate and support diversity, including racial, cultural, religious, socioeconomic, gender and sexual orientation, and people with differing types of abilities.

A full scholarship award includes the program fee, the housing fee (for dorm accommodations only) and all meals. Travel expenses are not included. You will not be permitted to reserve housing that costs higher than that offered by your scholarship. Scholarships are not transferable to other events or people.

Our scholarship fund is dedicated to creating opportunities for those who are not able to attend our programs due to limited funds. Because there are a limited number of scholarships available, we ask that you only apply if you truly need financial assistance and would be unable to attend otherwise.

HOW TO APPLY

A link to the application form can be found at the bottom of this page. Before you fill in your answers, we suggest that you take a few moments to reflect on what moves you to attend this retreat and to consider the nature of your financial need. You are encouraged to take your time responding to the questions thoughtfully and with commitment.

When composing your responses, please keep in mind that the Open Gate Sangha Scholarship Committee will be reviewing your application. The Committee awards scholarships based on several criteria, including availability of scholarship funds, applicant’s financial need, thoughtfulness of responses to application questions, and prior scholarships awarded to the applicant.

When you have completed the questions, click on Submit.

The final day to apply is June 10, 2024. Please allow TWO WEEKS after the submission deadline for our Scholarship Committee to review your application.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

After you submit your application, you will receive a pop-up response to confirm receipt, but will NOT receive notification of your scholarship status until after the two-week Scholarship Committee review period concludes. Notification of whether or not you will be awarded a scholarship will come via email on or around June 24.

If you are not awarded a scholarship, you may be chosen as an “alternate” in the event that someone who has received a scholarship declines their award. If you are chosen as an alternate, you will be notified by email.

While you are waiting for the Scholarship Committee’s response, we ask that you do NOT register for the retreat. Doing so will void your scholarship application.

Applying for a scholarship does not reserve a place in the retreat unless the scholarship is granted. Please do not contact Garrison Institute to reserve housing until you have received your scholarship status. Notifications of scholarship awards will include housing instructions.

If you have any questions about the scholarship application process, contact [email protected].
